It’s hard to find strength in sadness
My eyes well up every time you sleep
I give you answers that gleam on the surface
Though the painful truth lingers deep

I try to comfort you with fabled tales
Where the hero saves the day in the end
Maybe it’s just a way to comfort myself
Giving hope to heroes that hardly ever win

Never stop believing in your heroes
They exist here because of your dreams
I put all my hope in your untainted heart
To become a hero with angel wings

  1. Beautifully expressed…
Personally, in spite of realizing we have to be our own heroes… I always love a good hero story… and at night, if I feel unwell, I do imagine a personal guardian angel watching out for each of us… so, in short, I like the poem very much. :))

    1. Thank you so much Lia! Yes it’s true we have to be our own heroes. Being a hero inspires stories and those stories hopefully inspires others to be their own hero. I like your thought of a guardian angel watching over when we are unwell also, its a comforting thought. πŸ™πŸ˜ŠπŸŒŸ

  2. β€œIt’s hard to find strength in sadness” … and yet you have, and shared it with all of us in such a beautiful way. Reminding me to keep dreaming and making heroes real. Thank you πŸ™πŸ¦‹
